Mobile Notes: Radiation, Samsung Instinct, Small biz, iPhone

by Joe P on June 12, 2008

I know I already talked about the iPhone today, but here’s another tidbit. You know how you’re getting a subsidy on the 3G model? Turns out that you’ll pay more in the end, thanks to the hike in AT&T’s data pricing. Once $20 a month, it will now cost $30 per month for 3G iPhone data. Over the course of that two-year contract you’ll have to sign, that’s an extra $240, which amounts to more than the subsidy. Sorry, guys.

Verizon has a new unlimited calling deal for small businesses. They also integrate it with their Freedom for Business plan to give small businesses even more options.

Looks like the Samsung Instinct, soon available through Sprint, will carry the same deal as the iPhone. It’ll be $200 after signing a two-year deal. The advantage, of course, is with Sprint’s deals, which one might be able to find a bit cheaper than the AT&T counterparts. Then again, that all depends on what features you do want on your phone.

CNET looks at the best and worst in cell phone radiation. The Motorola V195s gives off the most, followed by a troika of fellow Motorola models, including two SLVRs and the W385. The lowest is the LG KG800, followed by, surprisingly, the original RAZR. Go figure.
