Mobile Notes: iPhone shortage (!!), T-Mobile, Opera Mini, Sprint

by Joe P on May 13, 2008

So there was a story making its rounds yesterday about a product called iPhone Black appearing in a drop-down box on the AT&T website. So the Internet clamored. What does it mean, what does it mean? Well, it probably means nothing. And if it does mean something, so what? Errors pop up on websites all the time. But anything for the iPhone, I suppose.

  • The iPhone is sold out online! OMG!!!!11111 Well, at least through Apple. you can always go to AT&T’s site and get it.
  • Opera Mini 4.1 is now a full release and is ready for download.
  • ZOMG!! The 3G iPhone might switch between 3G and EDGE to save battery. Actually, that’s a pretty good idea. It’s just fun to mimic the excitement of Apple fanboys. (And I’m not a hater; I type this from a MacBook.)
  • Looks like T-Mobile has a couple of handset delays. The Nokia 5310 Xpress Music is now tapped for early June, while the 5610 is now set for early July. The Motorola Z6w? Scrap it. Sucks, too, because it was supposed to have WiFi.
  • Sprint’s being sued by an affiliate saying that mobile WiMAX will violate some exclusivity agreement. Stifle innovation! That’s what I always say.
