Get out of your Sprint contract without an ETF

by Joe P on November 28, 2008

We make no mistake of our dislike of Sprint’s cellular service. While some people enjoy it, between the service level and the customer service deficiencies, we just can’t endorse them. If you’re dissatisfied with Sprint, you can get out of your contract without paying an early termination fee, thanks to an increase in their administrative fee. That represents a material change to the terms of service, which means if you’re persistent enough you can walk away from the remainder of your contract.

Consumerist reader Ken details his experience with canceling his two lines because of this administrative fee. His cancellation will take effect at the end of his current billing cycle, even though the fee doesn’t come into effect until January.

We’re not saying there should be a mass exodus from Sprint. It’s just that if you’ve felt wronged by them, now is the time to break away.
