Will new application revolutionize customer service?

by Joe P on July 30, 2008

Long wait times. Voice-driven menus. Uncaring customer service reps. Yep, there are plenty of reasons we hate calling customer service lines. If only it were easier. If only it were an application, rather than a phone number. It seems Nuance Communications is on board with this thought process. According to WirelessWeek, they’ve launched a customer service mobile application. Not only that, but they’ve partner with a carrier, though the exact one will remain anonymous for the time being. They’re calling it “revolutionary.” I’m still waiting to see it in action.

Once you launch the application, you can then perform a number of customer service-related tasks, including paying your bill and checking your balance. This will save customer service reps time, since they can focus on calls dealing with problems, rather than routine account tasks.

If, however, the customer can’t find an answer through the application, they can transfer to a live agent. There aren’t any specifics on how one gets through to customer service, but it would be great if the representative got access to what you were trying to accomplish through the application. That would probably speed along the process.

Since the partnered carrier is anonymous, there’s now word on when this will be available.
