When we found out that the FCC okayed the Verizon acquisition of Rural Cellular, we knew it was contingent upon some divesture of properties. What we didn’t know was who would move into those markets vacated by Verizon. A local CBS affiliate, via PhoneNews.com, tells us that AT&T will be offering service in the state. Vermont, welcome to the iPhone.
This won’t be an overnight move, of course. AT&T has to set up their GSM network in its new markets, though having the cell towers in place already certainly helps.
