AT&T offers driving safety tips

by Joe P on December 28, 2007

A car is a difficult machine to operate. It’s infinitely more difficult if your attention is divided while operating it. Yes, we’re talking about talking on your cell phone and driving, one of our pet peeves. Yeah, they have those nifty ear pieces now, and that makes it a bit safer, but we continue to see people yakking straight into their handsets. AT&T is reminding everyone of their Be Sensible campaign, which discourages phone use while driving. Here are their cell phone related tips for the New Year:

— Make safe driving your most important call. If you think a wireless
phone call will be distracting, either don’t answer the call or just
hang up.

— If you need to make or take a call, wait until your trip is complete
and your car is safely stopped.

— Never use your phone to take pictures, send and read messages, record
video or watch TV while driving.

— Avoid stressful or emotional conversations while driving.

— Don’t take notes or look up phone numbers while driving.

Seems pretty common-sense to us. Conversations can always wait. Best to get somewhere safely and then resume talking.

Okay, now we’re going to yell at some kids to get off our lawn.
