It’s often said that technology can be used for good, or it can be used for evil. This couldn’t be more true for a new BrickHouse Security gadget that allows you to view deleted text messages. While it might put the clumsy among us at ease, on the other hand, it puts the heat on those who are less than honest in their communications. And honestly, the spying prospect here kind of scares me. Not that we can’t do similar things on our computers — there are those programs which record your every keystroke, which I’m sure has led to at least a handful of divorces. But in any event, BrickHouse, despite the spying implications, can serve a deal of good.
The device works simply. You plug it into your USB port, and then slide in a SIM card. The data — including deleted messages — then transfers to your computer so you can view it.
So you can see the good here. Some of us mistakenly delete messages, and this is a viable way to retrieve them. Since they are not stored on the cellular network, only locally on our phones, it seems like the only way to undelete them.
However, it appears that the main use of this is to spy on others. As the final line of this Information Week article says: “The new device has one review from a user who claims he found messages his wife had been sending to someone else.” Sorry, and I’ve said it in the past, but I’m not a fan at all of this form of spying.
“If you change your mobile phone or service provider and receive a new empty SIM card, this SIM card solution is the best way to load the new saved data onto it,” BrickHouse says on its Web site. “Editing your SIM card entries has never been easier when doing it on your PC with the computer’s keyboard instead of your mobile phone keypad.”
See, that’s cool. For those of us who switch from T-Mobile to AT&T, or vice versa, this card might totally be worth it. That is, if you think that $150 justifies the time you’d spend transferring your SIM information.
Use it for good.

What is the name of the product that can retrieve deleted text messages from a sidekick lx and how much does it cost
Can I use this software on a standard, non windows mobile phone? Say a sony ericsson W880?
Hi Guys! Sorry for the confusion. The cell phone SIM card spy is a piece of hardware. You must pop your SIM card out of your phone and insert into this device. Then you plug the device into a USB port on your PC to read the data on your card. For more info check out the Brickhouse Security site http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/cellphone-spy-simcardreader.html
how far back can it trace back? Can I retrieve messages that deleleted since Oct of 2008/?
Can you retrieve deleted messages from a phone that does not have a SIM card?
Also, can you retrieve deleted messages by inserting a sim card then using the brickhouse security device?
The answer to both, Wondering, is no. You need to have a SIM device, and the SIM needs to be already installed. Retrieving these messages is like pulling old files out of your computer’s Recycle Bin (or Trash for Macs).
will this work with an Iphone even after I have already synced the phone many times?
